Philippine EU Health Sector Project Awarded
EPOS was recently awarded the EU-funded 'Technical Assistance for Health Sector Reform' project in the Philippines, representing one of the largest EU interventions in Health Technical Assistance in Asia. The four year project will launch in November and brings together a strong team of international and local experts in the areas of policy and planning, financing, primary health, HMIS, HRD/HRM, institutional strengthening, essential medicines and pharmaceuticals.
Undertaken to ensure the foundations of Universal Health Care (UHC) are strongly laid down, EPOS will support the Department of Health (DoH) in finding new local health system management models to improve service delivery. The project is directed at achieving five main goals: strengthening the service delivery system; strengthening the institutional capacity of the PhilHealth to become the primary payer in the health system; improving the governance of the health sector; enhancing the regulatory capacity for provision of quality services, medicines and supplies; and ensuring equitable distribution of human resources for health (HRH).
EPOS will lead implementation of the 7.8M Euro project in consortium with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the University of Oslo.
