In Afghanistan, EPOS successfully completed a project for the reconstruction of the main building (360 beds) of the Balkh hospital in Mazar-e-Sharif which was funded by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs through KfW. The Balkh hospital is the central hospital for 350,000 inhabitants and serves as a referral hospital for up to six million citizens in Northern Afghanistan. The high visibility project received visits from both Afghan and German officials – including a visit by German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel.
