A project closure ceremony for the EU-funded Technical Cooperation Programme to the Ministry of Public Health in Afghanistan took place in Kabul on 7 March 2016. The four-year project provided technical assistance to several departments within the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH)  to enable development of  sound policies, strategies and operational plans and oversee implementation.

Achievements were made in strengthening the capacity of the MoPH to steer and manage the provision of preventive and curative health services and the development of the Afghan public health system including its financial and human resources as well as its infrastructure and equipment.

After speeches of MoPH and EU representatives, EPOS Project Team Leader Caroline Fitzwarryne presented project results to an audience which included the project team along with senior level representatives from the MoPH and the European Union, as well as representatives from other international aid agencies.
